All About The Mini Adirondack ChairA lot of people judge the early 1900’s to be the best period in American furniture making history. It is near Lake Champlain, in Westport, New York, at the summer home of a man named Thomas Lee that the story of Adirondack chairs begins. Lee set out to design some lawn chairs for his family, and the result was close to the low-seated, comfortable chair we know today. Lee’s friend, Harry Bunnell, patented the design and added variations including rockers, tete-a-tetes, and of course, the mini Adirondack chair for children. The whole nation is captivated with Adirondack chairs, if home furniture catalogs are to be believed. By wooden lounge chair standards, the furniture is very comfortable, and your children will love the mini version. Though Adirondack furniture is no longer cheap, the style is now showing up everywhere, even in kids’ potty chairs. That’s right: The Throne Room, that aptly named Florida firm that provides fancy commode covers, is offering a freestanding potty seat that looks like an Adirondack chair. Adirondack Furniture On A BudgetIf you don’t have thousands to spend on outdoor furniture, you can jazz up your lawn or deck with Adirondack chairs and rockers. Quality wood furniture is not as costly as you may think, and Adirondack furniture will last for years and will hold its structural integrity. Cheap patio furniture will do neither. An entry-level wood for purchasers on a budget is cypress, while cedar is a great middle ground.
